Cut Resistant Gloves
Cut resistant gloves are critical for keeping your hands safe on the job from sharp objects and hazards. Magid uses the most innovative technologies, materials, and features to ensure you and your workers can get additional protection from cuts, lacerations, and scratches.

Cut Resistant Work Gloves

Cuts and lacerations are two of the most common injuries suffered on jobsites. Work environments with hazards like sharpened tools or edges require durable hand protection provided by a trusted pair of cut resistant work gloves. No matter your application, cut resistant gloves can be the difference between a bad day at work and a life-changing injury.

What Makes a Glove Cut Resistant?

Cut resistant gloves are typically made with yarn that has an inner core bound by an outer wrap. The core can be made of fiberglass, steel, basalt, or a blend of the three to increase cut resistance levels. The outer wrap is typically made of a cut resistant material like high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) or aramid, with an added filler such as nylon, spandex, or polyester for flexibility. New cut resistant gloves are made with coreless materials for lightweight comfort as well as soft and comfortable materials that achieve the highest levels of cut resistance, too.

How Do Cut Resistance Levels Differ?

The amount of pressure needed to break through the material determines the amount of protection the material provides. The ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 Cut Resistance Standard removes the guesswork from determining if a work glove provides the necessary protection you or your workers need through a rating system of nine cut resistance levels. Ranging from A1 to A9, protection levels are applied to tested work gloves used in a variety of applications.

How are Cut Resistance Levels Tested?

When developing new PPE, we think about what our own workers need to do their jobs safely and efficiently. We also reach out to safety managers to talk about compliance and learn more about industry- and environment-specific hazards, applications, and solutions. After compiling this information and manufacturing our products, we test our cut resistant work gloves based on ANSI cut resistance rating requirements:

  • In accordance with ASTM F2992, a carefully calibrated machine drags a sharp blade over the glove material with a specific amount of pressure
  • We verify these results by sending the material to an accredited, third-party lab to replicate and validate the results from an independent, outside source
  • Finally, we edge-test the material across hazardous objects in real-world facilities. This is so we can confidently know the material can handle serious contact with sharp edges.

Additional Features of Cut Resistant Work Gloves

In addition to cut resistance, many of these work gloves come with specific features to benefit workers in different industries. These can include:

  • Breathable cut resistant materials that make your hands feel cooler and more comfortable on the job
  • Palm coatings like polyurethane or nitrile that provide additional tactile sensitivity or strengthened grip in oily environments, respectively
  • Impact protection like thermoplastic rubber (TPR) on the back of the hand and fingers for work areas with bump, pinch, or crush hazards
  • Hi-vis colors to make sure you can easily see workers are wearing their PPE and they can see where their hands are in low-light environments
